Indian students who are interested to pursue their masters or post graduate diploma courses or Ph. D in New Zealand can apply for the Commonwealth Scholarship program offered by the New Zealand Government New Zealand Scholarships empower individuals with the knowledge, skills and qualifications to contribute to economic, social and political development within selected developing countries.To pursue their Ph.D., Masters or Post Graduate Diploma, the students can opt across streams such as Environmental Studies, Agriculture, Fisheries, Biosecurity and Food Safety

The scholarship program gives an allowance of NZ$1,500 and covers travel expenses, visa processing fee, tuition fees, institutional course cost, living expense, medical and travel insurance charges as well. It also sponsors a travel called reunion travel which allows students to travel to their home country if they have a dependent there .The CSFP was established at the first Commonwealth education conference in 1959 and is reviewed by education ministers at their triennial meetings. The CSFP is the only scholarship scheme in the world to receive such high-level recognition.

Eligibility: In order to apply for this scholarship the student should be within 40 years of age as on 31st May of the year of application and should have scored more than 65% in bachelor’s or master’s degree. As a general rule, for those wishing to complete a postgraduate qualification an overall IELTS score of 6.5 and no band less than 6.0 is the minimum required.They should be citizens of commonwealth developing nations and should have been residing in their home country for a minimum of two years prior to the date of application. The student cannot transfer from one tertiary scholarship program to the commonwealth scholarship program and should not have been terminated from a New Zealand or Australian government scholarship previously.

Even if you send the application online,  an attested hard copy of all the required documents has to be sent to the above mentioned address.
