Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) conducts the NDA I and NDA II exams twice a year to fill up  vacancies in Army, in Navy and in Air Force. NDA II 2016 is set to be held on April 17, 2016 for the three wings of NDA for 137th Course and 99th India Naval Academy Course, commencing in January, 2017. Exam Name: National Defense Academy (NDA/NA 2016) examinations

Selection Process – Eligible candidates have to appear in the written exam. The qualifying candidates of NDA 2016 are called for SSB Interview, which carries 900 marks and is conducted in two stages. Stage I contains of Officer Intelligence Rating (OIR) tests and Picture Perception & Description Test (PP&DT). Stage II comprises Interview, Group Testing Officer Tasks, Psychology Tests and Conference at the SSB centres.

Eligibility Criteria – The applicants for the defence courses must be citizen of India and are required to be appearing or have qualified 10+2 board exam. Apart from that, they must be unmarried and male. Candidates applying for NDA II 2016 must be born between January 2, 1998 and January 1, 2001. Candidates must check their eligibility for the recruitment exam before applying for the same.

 Application Form – The application form of  NDA II will be invited from June 6 to July 15. The NDA Application Procedure is a two-step process, through which candidates have to fill in the online applications and remit a payment against application fee of Rs. 100 only.  The mode of payment of fee can be Bank Challan or Online through Net Banking facility of State Bank of India or via SBI Debit/Credit Cards.

Exam Pattern – NDA 2016 exam duration is 5 hours and it is conducted in around 41 cities across India. The exam comprises questions from Mathematics and General Ability, with as many as 900 marks. Negative Marking is applicable in this written exam and one-third mark allotted to the question is deducted for a wrong response marked by the candidate for the respective question. More than one responses made to any question is also treated as incorrect answer and negative marking system is applied to that question.

Admit Card – UPSC issues admit card for the written exam generally three weeks before the NDA 2016 exam. Candidates must download their E-Admit Card as soon as it is available online. UPSC does not send hard copy of admit card through post to any candidate by any means. Candidates appearing for the exam must take with them a valid NDA E-Admit card. If they fail to do so, they will not be allowed to appear in the exam.

UPSC declares result of NDA written exam generally two months after the exam. A list of candidates, securing minimum required marks for qualifying the competitive exam, is prepared and released as the result. The qualifying candidates of the competitive exam are invited to appear for the SSB Interview for Intelligence and Personality Test. The candidates, who apply for Air Force Academy, have to undergo PABT (Pilot Aptitude Battery Test) apart from SSB Interviews.
